Cow Heavy And Floral

Short Film / Limited Release
Synopsis

Cow Heavy And Floral is a15-minute short narrative live-action film about a postpartum writer who races a deadline as she battles an identity crisis between her various personas. Film title inspired by the Sylvia Plath poem “Morning Song”.

Meals About Motherhood is a partner initiative with the film to engender honest conversations about motherhood and invite attendees to watch the film as part of a showcase. Our mission is to foster more open dialogue between people about motherhood - about being a mother, not being a mother, and the decisions, consequences, and factors that arise from both - and to use film/media as a tool to expand and drive those conversations, over a shared meal.

Meals About Motherhood has taken place in 15 cities across the North American continent!

Testimonials

“I feel seen! Motherhood is full of complex multilayered emotions- grief, loss, panic, fear, ambivalence, conflict, being pulled in different directions. Women need to hear and see their inner conflicts represented through stories to understand themselves which can facilitate healing.” - anonymous survey responder
“It’s really strong and terrifying - as a woman who had two children in a very demanding career I related to it a lot…There is nothing more frightening than to be a mother struggling with postpartum, responsible for a baby, and trying to hold onto a career in an industry that punishes us.” - Geeta Gandbhir, Emmy and Peabody-winning filmmaker
“I love the length of the film. It's a perfect conversation starter... “ - Roma Kaundal, Deputy Director of Global Philanthropy, JP Morgan Chase
“Congratulations on a fantastic film! …it totally resonated in communicating the frenetic pace and feeling of life as a parent these days being pulled in so many directions (something I feel strongly as a Dad of a 3 and 5 year old!).” - Aaron Saffa, Panavision, Los Angeles
